Privacy Policy
Last updated June 2026. Plain language, no legal padding.
What we collect on the journal
Beat Rate does not require an account to read the journal. Standard hosting logs may record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, purely for keeping the site running and diagnosing problems — we don't sell or share this information.
The newsletter
If you enter your email address for our occasional newsletter, we store it only to send those notes and to let you unsubscribe. We do not pass your address to advertisers or other third parties.
The Beat Rate app
Entries you log in the Beat Rate app — amplitude readings, beat error, service notes — are stored on your own device by default. If you choose to enable an optional backup, that data is encrypted in transit and used solely to restore your log if you change devices. We do not read, analyze, or sell the contents of your watch log.
Cookies
We use only the minimum technical storage needed for the site to function, such as remembering that you've dismissed the newsletter confirmation. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Children's privacy
Beat Rate is a general-audience publication about watch mechanics and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note the change on this page.
